Fair was good forum to hear concerns

The Freeborn County Fair proved to be a success once again: great entertainment, tasty treats and wonderful conversations with friends — old and new. This past week I visited with thousands of constituents. I answered their questions, listened to their suggestions and was touched by their sincere gratitude for the work I have done over the past two years.
The majority of our conversations started with, “Thank you.” Al is proud of my vote in support of safe roads and bridges. Lorraine is thankful for the property tax relief that will allow her to stay in her home. Tom let me know how happy he is that the old Edgewater dump will be cleaned up soon. Nancy just wanted to thank me for getting back to her so quickly when she called me cell phone.
Many issues were discussed in detail during the Freeborn County Fair including the following:
The need to provide safe roads and bridges
The excessive profits of oil companies
The need for affordable and assessable health care
The desire to lower property taxes
The need for quality education for their children
Local economic development for good paying jobs
And their appreciation for a state legislator who listens and responds to their concerns.
In addition to attending the fair all week, I have continued to meet with people at their homes. After personally visiting over 7,000 homes so far in my campaign for re-election, I continue to be impressed with the warmth and friendliness of the entire legislative district. People are genuinely impressed with the constituent service I have provided when they call, write or e-mail me or when they see me in person. This is what good government is all about.
Thank you, District 27A, for your support and the honor to serve as your state representative.
