Marine Corps Pvt. John W. Mann IV, son of Rose M. Mann of Rochester and John W. Mann III of Albert Lea, recently graduated from the light armored vehicle repairman course.
During the course at Marine Corps Detachment, U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., Mann received instruction on trouble-shooting, repair and inspection of light armored vehicles (LAV).
Mann learned to repair the vehicles that provide infantrymen with the capability of performing offensive and defensive missions requiring agility and fire power.
The LAV can be from a ship with the help of Navy landing craft, which transport the vehicles and crews to shore. As a Marine Corps infantryman, Mann’s job is to repair and use the weapons and equipment on which he is trained to provide protective and combative services in times of both peace and war.
Mann is a 2004 graduate of Austin High School and joined the Marine Corps in December 2007.
