Taxpayers should be upset with school board

What are you thinking? To issue a bond that will put a greater burden on the taxpayers without even giving them a chance to vote on it is unthinkable, since this tax will be to pay for school teacher retiree’s health insurance. When a teacher retires they get more in retirement than they made when working. Who is paying for the taxpayer’s health insurance? Many cannot afford their own insurance, or barely can afford it.
We passed the referendum last year after threats, name calling and wording that many didn’t really understand “so we wouldn’t short change our children.” Well, we didn’t shortchange them, you did by irresponsible spending. The first place that money went was for raises for all District 241 employees.
To taxpayers and District 241: It is time to express your objection to this “taxation without representation.” Call your school board now and vote for new members when the time comes. Stop this greed, demand more responsible spending.
From a taxpayer in District 241, who pays her own health insurance.
