The 19th annual South Central Minnesota Choral Festival will be held on Monday. The Grand Finale Concert begins at 7 p.m. in the Waseca High School gymnasium. This event will include nearly 300 high school singers from three choirs in southern Minnesota as well as the Waseca Chorale. Included are the top choirs from Blue Earth Area High School, Albert Lea High School and Waseca High School.

Singers will spend the afternoon rehearsing together, enjoy meeting one another during an evening meal break, and then present a 7 p.m. grand finale concert which is open to the public. The Waseca Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Alien Wortman, will open the concert. Each choir will perform one selection individually under the direction of their school choral conductor. This will be followed by a Massed Choir performance of three selections under the direction of Ellen Diischer, music educator and choral director at St. Phillip’s Lutheran Church in Hastings.

Admission for the grand finale concert is $2 for students and adults. Admission for preschool students is free. For further information, contact Deb Wantoch-Yess, Waseca High School choral director, at (507) 835-5470.
