The student human services club (DEEDS) from Riverland Community College will host a fundraising breakfast at Applebee’s in Albert Lea on Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m. The $5 meal consists of two pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage and a beverage of your choice (coffee, milk or orange juice) with all proceeds benefitting community service projects.
DEEDS (Dedication, Education, Empowerment, Diversity and Service) hosts fundraisers, volunteers for community activities, assists at homeless shelters, conduct food drives for area food shelves, and ‘adopt’ families for Christmas gift giving, as well as many other human service projects.
As a part of its ongoing efforts, DEEDS serves the surrounding area and various organizations in their efforts to assist agencies (such as SEMCAC, United Way, Parent Resource Center, and Crime Victims Crisis Center), individuals and organizations in need of their help. Though the organization is student-based, members of the public are encouraged to join and assist this generous group of volunteers make the world a better place.
