Why would Davis want to risk Social Security?

Like most farmers I know, I work off the farm to improve cash flow and receive health care benefits, and I also recently started a 401K for my future retirement. I have paid into Social Security since I started my first job at the age of 17 and, I hope, that it will still be there when I retire, especially since that 401K really hasn’t been doing well for the past year or so. If the Republicans had their way in 2005, Social Security would have been privatized and many of our elderly, widows and orphans and disabled who rely on Social Security benefits would now have nothing because of the mess that is Wall Street.

Even with this financial disaster that our country is dealing with, Dr. Brian Davis still wants to privatize Social Security.

We can’t afford to gamble away Social Security on the stock market, and we can’t afford a congressman that still insists on following his party’s plans to the detriment of those who most rely on entitlements like Social Security. Congressman Tim Walz has done a great deal for Minnesotans — for our veterans, our active duty military, and farmers like me — and he continues to protect those dependent on Social Security by opposing privatization of Social Security. Thanks, Tim Walz, for all the work you do on our behalf!
