Annual 4-H banquet recognizes excellence

The Freeborn County 4-H Recognition Night was held Oct. 19. The following awards were given.
Outgoing officers: Matthew Hunnicutt, Jared Knutson, Laura Gaudian and Ethan Weiss. They were given special recognition by the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Youth advisors: Aleah Roberts, Logan Meyer, Jack Miller and Maddy Ruble. They were given special recognition by the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Retiring adult advisors: Cindy Golbuff, Brian Stork, Terry Thorson and Cheryl Lonning. They were given special recognition by the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
County project leaders and county committees: Norman Bangert, county poultry leader; Dorothy Browers, dog project trainer and county dog project leader; Lonny Hagen, dog project trainer; Imogene Opdahl, Cloverbud program; Diane Westland, ambassador program; and Kris Wolff, ambassador program. They were given special recognition by the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Demonstration awards (county fair): Chase Saxton, Addie Wagner, Danielle Quinn and Peter Szymanski. The Albert Lea Noon Kiwanis Club presented them with gifts.
Grand champion market lamb (county fair): Jacob Knutson. He was presented with a gift from Prairie Brand Seed — Paul Rognes.
Grand champion market swine (county fair): Zak Drescher. He was presented with a gift from Lukes Brothers Inc.
Grand champion steer (county fair): Kailey Davis. She received a gift from Magnuson Cattle Co.
Master Livestock Producer Award: Jared Magnuson. He received recognition from AgStar Financial Services.
First-year dairy exhibitors: Aaron Brune, Andy Christensen, Kathryn Flaherty, Dan Lysne, Aleah Roberts, Marisa Roberts and Rachel Wangen. They received gifts from the Freeborn County American Dairy Association.
County fair dairy exhibitors: Aaron Brune, Andy Christensen, Andrea Crom, James DeRaad, Kathryn Flaherty, Dezeray Jacobs, Hailey Johnson, Presley Johnson, Dan Lysne, Jack Miller, Lindsey Miller, Aleah Roberts, Marisa Roberts, Chase Saxton, Bridget Saxton, Mitchell Skaar, Elizabeth Wangen and Josh Wangen. They received gifts from the Freeborn County American Dairy Association.
State fair dairy exhibitors: Dezeray Jacobs, Hailey Johnson, Presley Johnson, Lindsey Miller, Chase Saxton, Mitchell Skaar and Elizabeth Wangen.

Champion dairy exhibitor (Freeborn County Fair): Chase Saxton. He received a gift from the Freeborn County American Dairy Association.
Champion junior herd (Freeborn County Fair): Chase Saxton. He received a gift from the Albert Lea Seed House.
Dairy production contest (county fair): Chase Saxton. He received a gift from the Freeborn County American Dairy Association.
Electric project awards: Justin Frondal and Patrick Larson. They received gifts from Freeborn-Mower Cooperative Services.
Outstanding Natural Sciences Award (Greg Ulland Memorial): Jerad Magnuson. He received recognition from the Ross Ulland family.
Home economics award: Hannah Demmer. She received an award from the Freeborn County Home Council.
4-H Key Awards (in memory of Eldon Senske): Matt Hunnicutt, Caylee Tennis, Jared Knutson, Laura Gaudian, Kelly Tomschin and Anna Payne. They received gifts from Hazel Senske.
Outstanding junior leader award (Randy Knutson memorial): Mariah Howe. She received recognition from the Dean Knutson family.
“I Dare You” Leadership Awards: James DeRaad, Matt Maxa, Autumn Peterson, Michael Szymanski, Levi Langseth and Jessica Redman. They received gifts from the Ralston Purina Foundation and the Freeborn County Leaders Council.
Meritorious Service Awards: Clarks Grove-Waseca Vet Clinic and AgStar Financial Services. They received recognition from the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Have A Heart: Gina Haukoos. She received a gift from an anonymous donor.
Meritorious Leadership Awards: Jasmine Brouwers, Matt Hunnicutt, Krystle Lonning and Brett Paulsen. They received special recognition by the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Ambassador of the Year: Ethan Weiss. He received recognition from the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Secretary of the Year: Mariah Fossum. She received recognition from the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Treasurer of the year: Abby LeBrun. She received a gift from AgStar Financial Services.
Outstanding Adult Leader: Cheryl and Steve Lonning. They received recognition from the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Club of the year: Hartland. They received a plaque from the Freeborn County 4-H Leaders Council.
Lawson Memorial Award: Molly Wagner. She received a gift from the Calvin Lyle family.
