Freeborn 4-H Club holds annual awards banquet

The Freeborn 4-H Club held its awards banquet at the Freeborn Legion on Nov. 1. The meeting was called to order by President Genna Anderson. The American flag pledge and 4-H pledge were recited.
A potluck supper was shared by all present. Key Leader Barbara Hunnicutt and Assistant Key Leader Sandy Anderson presented the following awards:
Sandra Anderson: 10-year adult leader pin and certificate
Joan Peterson: 10-year adult leader pin and certificate
Kim Redman: 10-year adult leader pin and certificate
Linda Jacobsen: 12-year adult leader seal
Julie Stenzel: 13-year adult leader seal
Barb Hunnicutt: 14-year adult leader seal
Renee Chicos: 15-year adult leader pin and certificate
Chris Anderson: 1-year certificate youth leader
Genna Anderson: 5-year seal youth leader
Matthew Chicos: 4-year seal youth leader
Megan Chicos: 2-year seal youth leader
Matthew Hunnicutt: 7-year seal youth leader
Jillian Jacobsen: 3-year seal youth leader
Autumn Peterson: 7-year seal youth leader
Jessica Redman: 4-year seal youth leader
Michael Szymanski: 3-year seal youth leader
Level 1 CloverBuds recognized were Taylor Jacobsen and Blaine Longe. They received a 4-H eraser.
Level 2 CloverBuds recognized were Jessie Hernandez Jr., Martin Longe and Samuel Longe. They received 4-H pencil.
First-year members receiving a pin were Taylor Jacobsen, Stephanie Johannsen, Tyler Johannsen, Blaine Longe, Alexia Munkberg and Rachael Petersen.
Ten-year members receiving a 10-year pin were Matthew Hunnicutt, Autumn Peterson, Jessica Redman and Michael Szymanski.
Four graduating members received certificates for their achievements: Matthew Hunnicutt, Autumn Peterson, Jessica Redman and Michael Szymanski.
Special recognition awards included the Freeborn 4-H Club receiving its 80-year seal. There was also recognition as June Dairy Days window display participant; Freeborn County Fair Community Pride grand champion; fair booth reserve champion; county herdsmanship red ribbon; purple ribbon club of the year certificate with 3,170 points.
Individuals recognized were as follows:
Chris Anderson: club treasurer; county fair youth leadership blue ribbon and food and nutrition blue ribbon; state fair exhibitor in youth leadership; record of excellence certificate for food review and youth leadership; and project medal for food review. Chris was also recognized for his perfect attendance with a certificate of achievement and a wallet for club reporter.
Genna Anderson: club president; county fair lawn and landscape reserve champion, indoor gardening purple ribbon and reserve champion computer; State Fair exhibitor in computer; record of excellence certificate and project medal in photography and self determined. Genna was also recognized for her perfect attendance with a certificate of achievement and an umbrella as club president.
Megan Chicos: club historian; received a 4-H cinch bag; county fair purple ribbon in photography, two purple ribbons in dairy beef and a purple ribbon in swine; record of excellence certificate in photography; and State Fair exhibitor in photography.
Matthew Hunnicutt: retiring 4-H Leaders Council president, gavel plaque from Freeborn County Leaders Council; 4-H Key Award, certificate and key pin from Hazel Senske; Meritorious Leadership Award, plaque from Freeborn County Leaders Council; Outstanding Star Horse Youth Leader, plaque from 4-H Extension Office; County Ambassador certificate; Cloverbud helper certificate; horseless horse junior assistant certificate; BLU participant; YELLO participant; County fair – grand champion in citizenship; State Fair exhibitor in citizenship; record of excellence certificate in citizenship and horse, and project medal in citizenship. 4-H completion certificate and $15 Wal-Mart gift card for graduating senior. A certificate for perfect attendance.
Jillian Jacobsen: club vice president, received a 4-H cinch bag.
Alexis Munkberg: state fair exhibitor – community pride, record of excellence certificate for crafts/fine arts.
Autumn Peterson: county fair purple ribbon in photography; State Fair exhibitor in photography; I Dare You Leadership Award book/certificate/plaque from Freeborn County Leaders Council. 4-H completion certificate and $15 Wal-Mart gift card for graduating senior.
Rachael Peterson: county fair junior Western horsemanship reserve champion.
Jessica Redman: club treasurer, received a 4-H cinch bag; County Ambassador certificate; county fair grand champion in global connections; I Dare You Leadership Award, book/certificate/plaque from Freeborn County Leaders Council. 4-H completion certificate and $15 Wal-Mart gift card for graduating senior.
Samantha Seipp: club secretary received a 4-H cinch bag.
Anne Szymanski: county fair grand champion horse related; State Horse Show exhibitor, horse related first place.
Michael Szymanski: I Dare You Leadership Award, book/certificate/plaque from Freeborn County Leaders Council. 4-H completion certificate and $15 Wal-Mart gift card for graduating senior.
Peter Szymanski: county fair purple ribbon in demonstration, scrapbook from Albert Lea Noon Kiwanis; purple ribbon in dog obedience senior novice; State Dog Show exhibitor in novice obedience.
The 2009 new club officers are: President Jillian Jacobsen, Vice President Peter Szymanski, Secretary Genna Anderson, Treasurer Chris Anderson,
Reporter Alexis Munkberg and Historian Megan Chicos.
Adult key leaders will be Linda Jacobsen and Renee Chicos.
