Thanks for show of respect to procession

It was my privilege to have known Albert Lea Police Department Lt. Phil Bartusek, both personally and professionally for many years. It was with great honor that I attended his funeral on Friday.
I was riding in one of squad cars during the processional, as it made its way to St. Theodore’s Cemetery.
As we entered West Hawthorne Avenue, a young man clearing his drive paused, removed his headwear and stood attentively as we drove by.
A block later, a couple stood in their drive. The man had one arm wrapped around his wife, holding her. His other placed over his heart.
Both had tears streaming down their cheeks.
I would like to recognize and thank those people for the showing a level of respect, dignity and humanity for Lt. Bartusek and his family that many have thought to have been lost long ago. Thank you!
