The American Cancer Society founded in 1913 is an organization of more than 2 million people working together to conquer cancer.

On June 19, 1998, the Minnesota Division House of Delegates approved a merger of our division with the Iowa, South Dakota and Wisconsin divisions to form a Midwest division. Directors set and approved strategic goals for the American Cancer Society ensures management accountability and provides stewardship of donated funds.

With the merger changes came our loan closet (wheelchairs, beds, etc.) for our cancer patients and families is not provided totally by volunteers but with a contracted service.

Our major fundraising events in Freeborn County, Relay for Life, Bike-A-Thon and Daffodil Days, count on volunteers to make these projects a success.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society also help provide funds for our programs of service education and research. We are proud of our Freeborn County volunteers. Joy Christian has served as memorial chairwoman and Eunice Hatleli, treasurer, we thank them for years of dedicated service. With the change we will provide this service from our Rochester office as of Feb. 1, 2009.

Our programs all remain the same only the address has changed mail your memorial gifts to: American Cancer Society, 2900 43rd St. N.W. Suite 300, Rochester, MN 55901.

This address will also be available at our Freeborn County Chamber office, 373-3938 or call (800) ACS-2345. We are your American Cancer Society.
