After one Alberta clipper dumped 4 inches of snow on Albert Lea Monday, a second one dumped about another 4 inches Tuesday night and early this morning.
It’s the bitter cold air temperatures that people are talking about, however. It got down to 20 below on Tuesday, but it didn’t break the record for Albert Lea: 29 below in 1916.
Blowing snow is the forecast for today. The National Weather Service calls for a north northwest wind of 20 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. The high will be 4 degrees below zero, with wind chill values between 28 and 34 below.
An Arctic air mass should move through the region tonight. A low of 23 below is forecast. The record for today is 27 below in 1979. A wind chill warning is in effect through Friday morning.
Wind chills were as low as 50 degrees below in northern Minnesota, including the cities of International Falls and Thief River Falls.
