NRHEG girls dominate Medford

The winning ways continue for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva girls’ basketball team as they easily rolled over conference opponent Medford 73-24 in New Richland on Friday night.

NRHEG (12-0, 6-0) shot the ball from every part of the floor on Friday night and the the Panthers did it while making it look easy.

Medford (1-10) has not won a confernce game yet this year and struggled against a very dominant Panther squad that is ranked No. 8 in Class 2A.

“A game like tonight gives us a chance to try some new stuff,” NRHEG head coach Mindy Sparby said. “No matter what the score is I always want our girls to give their best effort.”

NRHEG had three players in double figures in Friday.

Alyssa Kerkhoff led the way with 25, 17 of which came in the first half. Alyssa Hagen followed with 16 and Kate Quam contributed 10.

From the free throw line the Panthers shot 12-of-18, 10 of which were in the first half alone.

The Panthers will be facing Byron (5-6) on Monday in an away game and the following night they travel to Randolph (4-6) to try to make it win number 13 and 14.
