The top line for the Albert Lea boys’ hockey team appeared resurgent Friday night as it helped lead the Tigers to a resounding 6-0 win over Owatonna in a conference game in Owatonna.
Jordan Prescher-Smerud got the offense going quickly with his goal 26 seconds into the first period and the Tigers jumped out to a 3-0 first period lead.
His goal set the tone the rest of the evening as Albert Lea got revenge for a 5-2 loss to the Huskies last week.
Prescher-Smerud scored later in the first at 15:04 on an assist from Tyler Prihoda and Blake Adams. Prescher-Smerud, Prihoda, and Adams accounted for five of the six goals and Prihoda scored three of the goals.
Dillon Stolt scored in the second period to make it 4-0 and Prihoda added a pair of goals in the third, including a shorthanded goal.
Tigers’ goaltender John Wrolson picked up his second shutout of the season, stopping all 27 shots he faced.
“The kids played real well tonight,” Albert Lea head coach Roy Nystrom said. “All three lines, all six defensemen and our goaltender had a great game. It was an all-around good win for our kids.”
It was a much need win as well for the Tigers who had experienced a bit of a swoon lately, dropping three consecutive games before beating Winona Tuesday.
