All-Area Second and Third Teams

Second Team
Alyssa Hagen, junior, NRHEG
A solid defender whose length was a big asset. Not the tallest defender at 5-foot-11 but was versatile and worked the trap in the Panthers’ press defense. Finished second on the team in scoring with 9.4 points per game and led the team with 7.5 rebounds a game. Provided a big boost for the offense down the stretch with her play from the high post.
Ciara Christenson, senior, USC
Senior guard that could light it up from behind the arc in a moments notice. Finished second in scoring for the Rebels with 9.6 points per game and was all-conference honorable mention. Scored a team-high 21 points this season and tied a school record with 3-point field goals made in a season with 45. Was second on the team in assists and steals.
Katie Schou, senior, Albert Lea
Schou was deadly from 3-point range in a number of games this season. A player who was able to score in bunches at times. Hit seven 3-pointers on senior night and five in a game against Mankato East and Mayo earlier in the season. Her outside shooting broke down teams that tried to play zone against the Tigers. Averaged 8.1 points per game in her senior year.
Alyssa Sager, sophomore, Albert Lea
After being a post player for most of her career she became the Tigers’ point guard and handled the majority of the team’s offense. Finished second on the team in scoring with 10.6 points per game and shot 36 percent from the field and 71 percent from the line. Led Albert Lea in steals with 42 and was second in offensive rebounds while leading the team in assists.
Taylor Allis, junior, USC
An all-conference guard who tied a single-season assist school record with 113. Led the Rebels in steals with 58. Didn’t put up huge offensive numbers but was the primary ball-handler for USC during the season. Started all 27 games and will be a important returning member of the team next season as it looks to rise in the Gopher Conference.
Third Team
Sabrina Bushlack, senior, USC
A difference maker for the Rebels. Missed the first nine games of the season recovering from a knee injury from volleyball. In games she started USC went 9-2 in conference contests and 2-3 without her. Overall the Rebels went 11-5 with her and,3-8 without. Averaged 7.1 points per game and led the team in blocks and field goal percentage. Shot 47 percent from the field and learned a new position.
Nadean Krueger, senior, Alden-Conger
Senior post player averaged 10.7 points per game and finished second on the team in scoring. Finished second on the team in rebounds with 157 for the season and put up five double-doubles on the year. Shot 41 percent from the field for the Knights as they were a No. 2 seed in the subsection tournament after an 8-15 season a year ago.
Katie Hallman, junior, Alden-Conger
Led the Knights in scoring with 11.6 points per game and provided 7.3 rebounds per game. Recorded seven double-doubles this season as Alden-Conger went from one conference win last season to seven this season. Shot 46 percent from the field this season. The junior will be back next season to lead the Knights after they lose four senior players.
Kalli VanRyswyk, sophomore, Glenville-Emmons
A dominating post player for the Wolverines. Provided a strong scoring threat inside all season long, capable of double-doubles every game. An all-conference player. Averaged 14.4 points per game for the Wolverines and pulled down eight rebounds a game. Shot 44 percent from the field.
Kjirsti Davidson, senior, Northwood-Kensett
While Kate Hartman was the player to stop for the Vikings, Davidson was able to provide a scoring threat as well. She averaged 8.1 points a contest on 40 percent shooting percentage. Finished second on the team in assists with 48 as the Vikings finished 10-11 on the season.
