Choir soloists were not given due credit

The Albert Lea choir students who enrolled to compete in the solo ensemble contest on Saturday, Jan. 31, were not given enough credit in the paper on Tuesday, Feb. 24.

I was among the 70 students and I don’t think you are giving us enough credit. We worked for weeks, some a month, and the judges, don’t get me wrong, were very nice and uplifting. They gave us tips on how to do better.

But I think some of the students were cheated out and left on the shallow end and were not given the credit they deserved. I sat in on a few of the solos and I think they deserved a better score.

I think someone from the paper should have come along with us to interview some of us. To tell everyone how we felt about going and making a performance. And they should have given their input on some of the solos if they are to sit in on some of the solos.

I just think you could have given them more information. And maybe a picture of all of us soloists. And a separate picture of our accompanists. And given their input as well. And I’m sorry for anyone who disagrees, but I have talked to a few of the soloists and a few of our citizens and they also agree with me.

Thank you for taking time to read this letter.
