Four music students of Sharon L. Astrup-Scott were invited to perform and be judged at the National Federation of Music Clubs Festival Jan. 24 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The festival was held at the Schaffer Fine Arts Building.
NFMC festival programs are designed to promote study and stimulate interest in American and world music literature, and encourage each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement. All pieces of music were memorized and judged on memory, accuracy, rhythm, technique, musicianship and stage presence.
Participants were: Mitchell Wood, cello; Travis Nemec, voice and piano; Nicole Borneman, piano; and Ariel Keller, violin.
Each student received an American Beauty rose. These four students performed at Thorne Crest Retirement Community this month and will perform for the Rotary Club in March.
The NFMC is dedicated to listen, judge and encourage young musicians who embrace a high aptitude in music. Astrup-Scott also teaches them extensive music theory.
