Albert Lea Cantori holds spring concert

The Albert Lea Cantori will present its annual spring concert at 4 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Music will include selections by Palestrina, Mozart and Mochnick, Carter and American spirituals. This year is a celebration of the 200th birthday of Felix Mendelssohn, the Cantori will be singing his sacred cantata, “Hear My Prayer” with Sherry Seberson as the soprano soloist. Eileen Nelson Ness will also present an organ solo from Mendelssohn’s organ repertoire. This year also marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of America’s LeRoy Anderson. The Cantori will perform two of his works, “Syncopated Clock” and “Blue Tango,” featuring Marilyn Chafee and Gail Thurnau. The concert will finish with several spirituals and will include “Jesus Loves Me” with Brian Koser playing saxophone. The Cantori is under the direction of Ness who is completing the 30th year with the Cantori. Admission is free.
