Albert Lea wrestling team announces awards

Four Albert Lea wrestlers were named all-state for their accomplishments at the state tournament in February.
Cory Hansen was named all-state after a second place finish at 112 pounds. Hansen finished the season with a 43-6 record and 15 fall. Dalton Westerlund earned a fourth place finish at 119 pounds as a freshman and was named all-state after a 38-10 season.
Seniors Logan Kortan and Cody Hansen were also all-state. Hansen placed third in state with a 44-6 record. He led the team in wins and finished his career as a four-time state entrant and placed three of those years.
Kortan placed fifth at state for all-state honors in his fifth trip to the state tournament. He leaves the program as the all-time leader in career victories and is the school’s first five-time entrant. He missed a big chunk of the season recovering from a football injury and managed a 25-4 record.
For the team awards, Adam Clark was named the Most Improved wrestler. Clark had a 10-21 record as a junior and in his senior season improved his mark to 20-9.
Senior Ethan Reed received the Coaches Award. Reed finished the season with a 35-7 mark with 25 falls.
Reed was also among the eight wrestlers that received all-conference recognition as well. Reed, Cory Hansen, Cody Hansen, Trevor Rasmussen, Carter Kortan, Trey Hable, Westerlund, and Adam Kermes were all named all-conference.
