Grace Lutheran Church of Albert Lea recently received the gift of a Mason and Hamlin grand piano for use in its sanctuary, by Evelyn and Frank Wakefield. The piano had been in Evie’s home for years, and was used by her sons Robbi and Randi growing up taking piano lessons. It is a vintage instrument, with a rich, sonorous sound; perfectly capable of leading congregational singing and will be a welcome recital instrument for accompanying choirs, and for piano recitals. It was dedicated for use by Grace Lutheran at its worship services on Jan. 25. It was heard for the first time at Grace Lutheran on Christmas Eve. As a part of its dedication, Tewes performed Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Adagio Cantabile from Sonate Pathetique.”
