Positive Alternatives is hurting for funds

Minnesota’s effective grant program for pregnant women is in great need of additional funding. Called Positive Alternatives, it provided help to more than 12,000 women in its first two years. The state program funds pregnancy care centers and other organizations that provide services and practical support to pregnant women. They help with employment, education, housing, prenatal care, nutritional support, parenting education, adoption services, child care and more. They affirm the lives of women and their unborn babies by helping them in their time of need.
But the needs of women are far greater than the current Positive Alternatives funding can possibly meet. And the economy is driving more women into abortion clinics, according to the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood.
As compassionate people, we never want women to feel that abortion is their only option.
Please support increased Positive Alternatives funding by contacting Sen. Dan Sparks, (651)296-9248 or e-mail: Sen.daniel.sparks@senate.mn, and Rep. Robin Brown, (651) 296-8216 or e-mail: Rep.robin.brown@house.mn.
Urge them to support SF1074 and HF 1093, which will provide life-affirming services to more pregnant women in need. Let’s make sure women have the hope and help they need to successfully carry their pregnancies to term.
