Saturday’s visit by area veterans to the World War II Memorial in Washington, D.C., was highlighted by a greeting from former Kansas Sen. Robert Dole. The veterans were part of the Southeast Minnesota Honor Flight making the one-day trip to the nation’s capital and the memorial. Standing to the left of Dole is Bob Hahn of Albert Lea, and on the right is Ed Shannon. The archway in the background is the entry to the World War II Memorial, which was dedicated in May 2004.
