It was a disappointing finish to the season for the Glenville-Emmons baseball team Thursday as the Wolverines suffered their second losing season in three years.

Glenville-Emmons was bounced from the 1A west subsection playoffs Thursday in a 6-1 loss to Goodhue in the consolation bracket.

The game played out like many others this season for the Wolverines (9-11) as they made crucial errors despite getting strong starting pitching.

“Tough way to end the season,” said Glenville-Emmons head coach Louie Toulouse. “I was a little disappointed we didn’t play a little better.”

Wolverines starter Tyler Woodside threw seven innings and scattered seven hits. He allowed six runs but zero were earned runs. He also struck out six and walked just one.

But the defense behind Woodside committed four errors, including a crucial one with the bases loaded and two outs. The error allowed two runs to score and a single by the next batter made it 6-1.

The offense was unable to get started against Goodhue starter D.J. Buck as he struck out 14 hitters and allowed just one unearned run on three hits.
