The U.S. protects eagles over babies

Published 9:32 am Friday, May 29, 2009

Which is more important, the fertilized egg of a bald eagle to come to full term and hatch or the fertilized egg of a human to come to full term and be born? This should not be a political issue or a conservative-versus-liberal issue. This is an issue of moral values.

Congress has acted on the bald eagle issue and the Supreme Court of the United States has acted on the human issue.

If a person destroys the egg of an eagle, they can be fined up to $10,000 and sentenced up to two years in prison. If a human baby is aborted at, as an example, a Planned Parenthood facility, the government pays for the procedure with public tax dollars and no one is fined or sent to prison. Which is more important? Do we need to put unborn babies on the endangered species list in order for them to have protection?

As a Christian, I urge everyone to think about the priorities of this nation. Fifty million babies have been aborted in the past 35 years. Our nine Supreme Court justices are responsible for the deaths of more than 50 million babies. Each of our 100 U.S. senators and 435 U.S. representatives is responsible for their proportionate share and so is each president since 1974. Do they really represent our priorities? Why do we have military and local law enforcement agencies to protect our country and our citizens but allow 50 million babies to be murdered?
