Annona Halter, 94, Albert Lea

Funeral services for Annona Harriet Halter, 94, of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Annona died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Annona Harriet Halter was born on Nov. 17, 1914, the daughter of Ludwig Erickson and Enga (Swenson) Erickson in Ann Township, Westbrook. She was received into Christian faith through Holy Baptism on March 7, 1915, at Old Westbrook Church. At age 9 the family moved to Highwater Township in Lamberton and later confirmed her faith on Oct. 13, 1929, at Highwater Lutheran Church. On Sept. 15, 1937, she married Lloyd Halter at her parents home. They were members of Highwater Lutheran Church. Annona held several offices in ALCW and circles. She also taught Sunday school. Annona and Lloyd moved to Springfield in July of 1973. They joined St. Paul Lutheran Church. She was a member of WELCA, Mary-Martha circle and Prayer chain. Annona worked five years as a nurse’s aid at St. John’s Home. In 1994 she sold her home in Springfield and moved to Albert Lea. The Halters spent time with their children and grandchildren. Annona liked to sew, read, play scrabble and work in pottery shop. 
Survivors include her daughters, Eloise (John) Adams of Albert Lea and Serena Ritchie of Littleton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lucille Hawkins of Englewood, Colo., and Arlene Wendland of Lamberton.
Annona was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; brothers, Russell and Owen.
