Bike-A-Thon recognizes top fundraisers

The Freeborn County American Cancer Society Bike-A-Thon concluded its 2009 event on May 26 at Skyline Plaza with a special meeting to award prizes to the top fundraisers.
Alicia Ryan was this year’s top fundraiser, bringing in $2,335. She received a $100 cash card from the Green Mill.
David Anderson was the next highest fundraiser. He brought in $2,180,50 and received a bond from Farmers State Bank.
Richard Diaz raised $1,258 and was awarded a bond from Farmers State Bank.
Leon Bure raised $802 and received a bond from Home Federal Savings Bank.
Glen Juveland brought in $705 and received a mint proof coin set from Security Bank Minnesota.
Other top fundraisers and the prizes they received were: Otto Becker, $761, $35 check from United Employees Credit Union; Ryan Krug, $533, silver eagle coin from Citizens State Bank of Glenville; Brock Lund, $500, bond from U.S. Bank; Carey Bangert, $485, a certificate from Martin Cycling & Fitness; Donald Munden, $400, a certificate from Martin Cycling & Fitness; Sue Blenka, $390, $25 in chamber bucks from Western Rental; Jacob Webber, $370, a certificate from Martin Cycling and Fitness; Aniceto Navarro, $350, a $25 check from Artistic Hair Designers; Jacob Moffett, $336, $25 in chamber bucks from State Farm Insurance; and William Webber, $270, a certificate from Martin Cycling and Fitness.
Bank Night winners and their prizes were: Brandon Brackey, Wells Fargo items; JoAnn Brackey, Power 96 shirt; Julissa Gilbertson, pop and McDonald’s coupon; Thalia Madrigal, pop and McDonald’s coupon; Matt Buhr, Wells Fargo items; Gabriel Dyvig, Wells Fargo items; and Brenda Avalar, Power 96 shirt.
Robert Van Riper was again the youngest rider at age 6. He was awarded a trophy.
Otto Becker at age 83 was the oldest rider. He received a certificate from The Trumble’s. The youngest rider under 15 raising the most money was Jacob Webber. He received $75 in chamber bucks from Erlandson’s Implement.
Co-chairmen for this year’s Bike-A-Thon were Ken Dreyling and Freeborn County Sheriff Mark Harig.
An estimated 161 bikers participated in the 2009 Bike-A-Thon and about 34 finished the ride on a rather windy May 2. There were 10 teams that raised $11,304 in this annual event.
