Minneapolis has been named one of the world’s Top 10 biking cities.
Minneapolis was one of only three U.S. cities chosen by Travel and Leisure magazine. The others were Portland, Ore., and Seattle.
The magazine calls Minneapolis “a case study in policy promoting bicycling as a viable means to get around.” It cites the city’s designated street lanes, bike lockers, recreational trails, and winter plowing of bike trails.
Foreign cities on the list include: Amsterdam, Netherlands; Bogota, Colombia; Copenhagen, Denmark; Montreal, Canada; Munich, Germany; Paris, France; and Perth, Australia.
The U.S. Census Bureau lists Minneapolis as the No. 2 bicycling city in the country, just behind Portland, ranked by the number of people who bike to work.
