Newman, the No. 1-ranked team in Iowa, blasted four home runs, including a three-run shot and three two-run shots in a 14-2, five-inning win to end the Bulldogs nine-game winning streak.

“I knew going in it’d be our strength against their strength,” Lake Mills head coach Jason Blaser said. “They just feast on fast pitchers.”

The Bulldogs started the game with two consecutive singles put was only able to get one run across on a sacrifice fly by Throne. Throne added an RBI single in the third and finished 1-for-2.
