The busy 4-H summer season is in full swing. Dog, horse, lama and shooting sports trainings have started weekly practices. 4-H day camps will be starting up at the end of the month at various locations. Many of the clubs will be having June Dairy Days window displays for the month of June to promote Dairy month. One of the clubs that always does the June Dairy Days Window display is the Mansfield 4-H Club. Even though it is one of the smallest clubs in the county, it is one of the most active clubs. Here is a little more information about the Mansfield 4-H Club.

Number of members: 11.

Number of screened volunteers: Most of the parents are screened and have helped serve the club by teaching different project areas. Some have also served on the 4-H Executive Council.

What they do: Families are encouraged to participate together at the many events. They go bowling, have a pizza party, a potluck picnic in the summer at a member’s home and a Christmas party. They also help with countywide fundraisers and projects such as booths and banners.

Community Pride projects: Last year they painted the inside of the Mansfield Town Hall. They help recycle cans and participate in the Adopt-a-Highway project twice a year. They also are active in the recycling project at the county fair.

Favorite project areas: Non-livestock areas mostly, but livestock areas are growing.

When and where they meet: First Sunday of the month at the Mansfield Town Hall at 6 p.m

Other great things about the club: Club members are great at encouraging each other and have fun together as a family. Last year, Mariah Fossum, the secretary of the club, was named Secretary of the Year at the county banquet. Member Austin Suhr recently won a Columbian ewe lamb in a contest.
