Ronald Hedin, 72

Funeral services for Ronald Eugene Hedin, 72, of Albert Lea, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Vano will officiate. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery with military honors accorded by Freeborn County area veterans organizations. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ronald died Monday, Aug. 31, 2009, at Albert Lea Medical Center.
Ronald Eugene Hedin was born on Jan. 14, 1937, to Frederick and Myrtle (Thompson) Hedin in Whittemore, Iowa. Ronald grew up in Whittemore and attended school there. After school he served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. On June 11, 1966, Ronald was united in marriage to Laura Oberdiear in Albert Lea. He was employed at Streater for 40 years. Ronald was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, where through the years he had served on various committees. He also served on the board for Senior Tower and the Union Center Corporation Board for many years. Ronald enjoyed being with his family, traveling, Bluegrass Shows and watching NASCAR racing.
Survivors include his wife, Laura of Albert Lea; sons: James of Albert Lea and Steven of Faribault; sister, Arlene Satern, of Mason City; brother, David (Betty) Frost, of Owatonna; sister-in-law, Alice Frost, of Owatonna; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ronald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Mervin, of Houston, Texas, and brother, Victor Frost, of Albert Lea; sister, Virginia, in infancy; and brother-in-law, Conrad Satern.
