John Bluhm

John E. “Johnny” Bluhm, age 69, of Waseca, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. 
Born in Waldorf on July 21, 1940, John was the son of Martin and Dorothy (Young) Bluhm. He attended school in Waldorf before working on his family’s farm. On Nov. 16, 1963, he was united in marriage to Kathryn K. Bakken in Alden. He worked at Brown Printing in Waseca for many years. Later in his life, he could be found every afternoon at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca spending time with his wife. He was a very active member with the Waseca chapter of the Eagle’s Club, where many of his friends considered him their “Minnesota Dad.” John loved life, he loved his family, he enjoyed collecting coins, die-cast tractors and cars, singing karaoke, and watching Twins and Vikings games. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca.
John is survived by five children, Mike Bluhm of Osceola, Wis.; Kevin Bluhm of River Falls, Wis.; Kris (Joel) Hagglund of Lonsdale, Jeff (Michelle) Bluhm of Medford, Julie (Jeff) Timmerman of Eagle Lake and Diane Bluhm of Waseca; ten grandchildren; five siblings: Clinton (Shirley) Bluhm of Waseca, Gary (Joyce) Bluhm of Waseca, Karen (Roger) Vagness of Rochester, Larry (Becky) Bluhm of Albert Lea and Claudette (Brian) Swenson of St. Peter; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation was held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, from 3 to 7 p.m. and was followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service at the funeral home with the Rev. Mary Iverson officiating.
