Funeral services for Marie Emma Hansen, 93, formerly of Bancroft Creek Estates, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ. The Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Interment will be at Freeborn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Marie died Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Marie Emma Hansen was born on May 23, 1916, to Henry and Caroline Quade in Wells. She grew up and attended school in Wells. On Sept. 22, 1940, Marie was united in marriage to Earl H. Hansen in Wells. Shortly after they married, they moved to Freeborn where they lived for 66 years. Marie did the bookkeeping for Earl’s business for 42 years. Marie loved quilting, gardening, embroidery and traveling with Earl. She was a member of the Freeborn Congregational United Church of Christ, where she was active in circle and women’s fellowship. Marie was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Freeborn Cantata. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, watching the Twins and Vikings and sharing her candy with her visitors.
Survivors include daughter, Donna and husband Kenny Dulitz of Albert Lea; grandsons: Robert and wife Teresa Dulitz of Owatonna and Kevin and wife Leean Dulitz of Albert Lea; great-grandchildren: Brandon, Tyler, Austin, Alex and Allison; sisters: Marcella  Erickson of Bricelyn and Margaret and husband Bill Hungerford of Mason City, Iowa; brother-in-law, Norman Jacobsen; many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Caroline Quade; husband, Earl; sisters: Irene and husband Norman Babcock and Dorothy Jacobsen; brothers-in-law: Orvis Erickson and James and wife Marge Hansen; and niece, Diane Oldfather.
