The cause of a Sunday fire at a house at 208 S.E. First St. in this small town has yet to be determined, Clarks Grove Fire Chief Carl Anderson said Monday.
Anderson noted the fire is still under investigation by an investigation team from Freeborn County. He expects the investigation to take a few days.
When he and other firefighters from Clarks Grove, Geneva and Hollandale arrived at the house just after 6 a.m. Sunday, it was totally engulfed, he said.
Firefighters battled the blaze for 1 1/2 to two hours before it was put out, he said. Luckily, no one was home at the time of the fire, and no one was injured.
The house, owned by Mark Jensen, was a total loss, he said. The family was assisted by the Freeborn County American Red Cross.
In addition to finding out a cause of the fire, the investigation will pinpoint where the fire originated.
