Ellsworth Gulbrandson, 93

Funeral services for Ellsworth Gulbrandson, 93, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, at Cross of Glory Church in Hartland. The Rev. Dennis Frank will officiate. Interment will be at Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Ellsworth died Jan. 2, 2010, at Good Samaritan Society where he has lived since September 2004.
Ellsworth Palmer Gulbrandson was born Aug. 12, 1916, to Carl and Julia(Johnson) Gulbrandson in Hartland. He attended Hartland Rural School and was baptized and confirmed at the Hartland Synod Church. Ellsworth was a self employed farmer in the Hartland area. On Jan. 27, 1962, he was united in marriage to Cordelia Christianson. She died in 1984. On Aug. 16, 1986, Ellsworth was united in marriage to Dorothy Demmer at Cross of Glory Church in Hartland. He was a member of Cross of Glory Church, Farmer’s Union, Sons of Norway, and Hartland Senior Citizens. Ellsworth was called Grandpa Worth by his great-grand children. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, both by car and by group bus trips, playing games and Norwegian jokes.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Gulbrandson of Albert Lea; nieces: Lois (Eugene) Berg of Red Wing and Karen (Dennis) Johnson of Minneapolis; stepchildren: Eileen Bianchi of Carson City, Nev., Paul Christianson of California, Rebecca (Larry) Stevens of Bingham Lake; step grandchildren, Brent (Kathi), Maria, Brett, Becky (Jason), and Neil; step great-grandchildren: Dylan, Chloe, AJ, Summer and Wyatt; brother-in-law, Howard Recknor; and special cousin, Cordelia Olson.
Ellsworth was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Cordelia; sister, Gladys Erickson; brother-in-law, Peter Erickson; sister-in-law, Betty Recknor; step son-in-law, Monte Bianchi; step daughter-in-law, Lou Christianson and step granddaughter, Melissa Bauer.
