Telethon, bridal show and breakfasts mean lots to do

This is the big weekend for raising money for the Eagles Cancer Telethon.
The Geneva Cancer Auction continues Friday and Saturday nights.
Events at the Albert Lea Eagles Club on Saturday include the local cablethon, a jail and bail from noon to 4 p.m., and a dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
On Sunday, the annual cancer breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Fifth District Telethon will be broadcast on KTTC beginning 6 p.m. Saturday and will run until Sunday afternoon.
Following is a roundup of other events happening in the area this weekend.
Friday, Jan. 15
St. Theodore Catholic Church will hold a fish fry from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Marian Hall. Fish, baked or mashed potatoes, cole slaw, rolls and ice cream with toppings will be served. Cost is $8 for adults, $3 for children 12 and younger, and kids 3 and younger eat free.
Saturday, Jan. 16
The Albert Lea Band Boosters will hold their annual rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Northbridge Mall.
The Story Lady Doll & Toy Museum, 131 N. Broadway Ave., will hold a Gingerbread “Zambor-ee” at 1 p.m. There will be a program and stories by Pauline Olson and Marianne DePoppe, a gingerbread craft and frosting and eating cookies. Bring a doll or toy for show and tell. Admission is free for children and museum members and $2 for all others.
Sunday, Jan. 17
The Albert Lea Alano Society will hold a pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at 1005 N. Ulstad Ave. The breakfast includes pancakes, french toast, hashbrowns, eggs, sausage, coffee and juice. Cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 10 and younger.
The Alden-Conger Music Boosters will hold a french toast breakfast from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Alden-Conger cafeteria. Cost is a donation. Funds raised will go toward the high school band and choir trip to Chicago.
Northbridge Mall will hold Bridal Expo 2010 from noon to 5 p.m. There will be 37 vendors on hand will information about wedding services they provide. There will be fashion shows at 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. and chances for couples to win lots of prizes. In the food court, there will be a Vikings playoff party with food, big-screen televisions and prizes.
