The 31-year-old Albert Lea man charged with aggravated robbery, burglary and assault in connection with an armed robbery on South Washington Avenue last July pleaded guilty on Friday to first-degree burglary as part of a plea agreement.
Joshua Quincy Hill, was originally charged in Freeborn County District Court with seven felony counts, including one count of aggravated robbery, three counts of first-degree burglary, two counts of second-degree assault and one count of illegal possession of a short-barreled shotgun.
In the plea agreement, Hill is pleading guilty to one count of first-degree burglary, in exchange for having the other counts dropped at the time of sentencing.
He was arrested July 16, 2009, after police received a call of a 33-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who were reportedly held at gunpoint at 709 S. Washington Ave.
According to court documents, Hill allegedly forced his way into the apartment, pointed the gun at both the woman and the man, and later requested their money.
Police tracked down the Malibu that Hill fled in and arrested him. The driver of that Malibu, who was also allegedly involved, was never found.
According to Freeborn County District Court scheduling, Hill will be sentenced March 29 at 2:30 p.m.
Both the Freeborn County Attorney’s Office and Hill’s lawyer are recommending a 78-month prison term.
