Cory Joe Allhiser, 32, Austin, was injured when his snowmobile went into a drainage ditch near Manchester at approximately 6:20 p.m. Sunday, according to the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office.
Allhiser was treated at Albert Lea Medical Center and transferred to another hospital, according to an ALMC spokeswoman.
The accident report said the Law Enforcement Center received a report of a single snowmobile accident with injuries. The people reporting the accident were not familiar with Freeborn County and could not describe their location. Albert Lea Police Dispatch, working with the enhanced 9-1-1 system, were able to locate the caller’s latitude and longitude coordinates and alerted responding emergency services.
Manchester First Responders, Albert Lea Medical Center Ambulance and Freeborn County Sheriff’s deputies responded.
The report added that three snowmobilers were traveling together eastbound on the county’s trail system in Section 14 of Manchester Township. They became separated from one sled, turned around, and backtracked to find the missing snowmobile and driver in the drainage ditch.
