The Albert Lea boys’ hockey team snapped a two-game losing streak Thursday with a 9-1 rout of Austin Thursday at City Arena.

The Tigers rebounded after a 6-2 loss to Mankato West Monday and a 7-5 loss to Rochester Mayo Tuesday.

On senior night the Albert Lea seniors secured their first winning season at any level as the Tigers (12-11-1) dominated the Packers for three periods.

Albert Lea totaled 58 shots and scored four times in the first two periods.

Sophomores Austin Larson and Eric Carlson scored two goals while sophomore Levi Hacker, senior Tyler Brackey, senior Tyler Haaland and sophomore Cody Haaland all added goals for the Tigers.

Cody Haaland finished with three points and senior Mason Tuohy had two assists.

“It was a nice way for the seniors to end their regular season career in Albert Lea,” said Albert Lea head coach Roy Nystrom. “This senior class definitely provided a lot of excitement for the fans and they worked hard all year long.”

Seeding for the section playoffs takes place Sunday and the playoffs begin Tuesday.
