Sandra Albers, 66

Sandra Kay Albers, 66, of North Mankato and formerly of Kiester, died Friday, April 9, 2010, surrounded by her children at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato following a long battle with breast cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Wednesday at Mankato Mortuary, with the Rev. Robert Albers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the mortuary. Private family burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Kiester at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to ISJ Hospice or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Sandra was born on Oct. 17, 1943, in Albert Lea, to Robert and Helen (Havens) Ecklund. She was a 1961 graduate of Kiester High School. Sandra was united in marriage to Marlin Albers on Dec. 29, 1962. They later divorced. Sandra was employed with NRP and later with Corporate Graphics in North Mankato. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, going to movies, baking, and reading.
Sandra is survived by her son, Stacy (Julie) Albers of Albert Lea; two daughters: Tami (Jonathan) Janzig of Wells and Tia (Butch) Albers-Grunst of North Mankato; nine grandchildren: Lindsey Albers and her fiancé, Greg Heine, Christopher (Shannon) Albers, Brittany Albers, Jordan and Anissa Janzig, and Makenzie, Mikayla, Madison, and Maleah Grunst; mother, Helen Ecklund of Owatonna; sister, Robbin Ecklund of Arizona; brother, Mark Ecklund of Owatonna; uncle, Harold Holey of Rogers; aunt, Bernice King of Minneapolis; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Ecklund; son, Dirk Albers; uncle, Richard King; and aunt, Irene Holey.
