Joyce Black

Joyce Black, 80, passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 29, at Morrison Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Wallace, of St. Luke Presbyterian Church, of Amarillo, Texas, officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m., at Fairmount Cemetery, Lamar, Colo. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Joyce Black was born Oct. 17, 1929, in Rochester to John and Martha Wainio. On Aug. 28, 1954, she married Marvin Black in Rochester. He preceded her in death March 7, 1989. She had been a resident of Dumas, Texas, for 12 years after moving from Lamar, Colo. She was a bookkeeper for Ulysses Irrigation for several years and enjoyed gardening and painting with watercolors. Joyce was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dumas, Texas.
The family wishes to give special thanks to all who cared and helped through the years.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Helen Haberman and Elaine Taplin.
Survivors include; her daughter, Pam Black of Grand Junction, Colo.; sons, Steve Black and wife, Quinn of San Antonio, Texas, Tom Black and wife, Susan of New Windsor, Md., Jim Black and wife, Kathy of Irvine, Calif.; sister, Marie Wallace of Burbank, Calif.; 7 grandchildren, Chad, Brett, Sabre, Nick, Christina, Jon, and Jason.
The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 403 Pear, Dumas, TX 79029 or the Arthritis Foundation, 4300 MacArthur Ave, Ste. 245, Dallas, TX 75209.
The family will be at 610 Forrest in Dumas, Texas.
