Roger W. “Coon” Kriewall, 74, of Blue Earth, died Sunday, May 23, 2010, at Good Samaritan Center in Albert Lea. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, with the Rev. Wesley Hafner officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Blue Earth. Visitation time will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Patton Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 400 E. 14th St., in Blue Earth, and one hour prior to services at the church. Roger was born Dec. 27, 1935, in Blue Earth, the son of Bernard and Lorena (Wilke) Kriewall. He was raised in Blue Earth where he was a 1953 graduate of Blue Earth High School. He worked for Blue Earth Valley Telephone Co. and Norbert Mensing Construction before he went in to the construction business with Harold Furland. He was married to Mary J. Ripple on Aug. 25, 1956, in Monterey. In the early 1960s he became a self-employed carpenter and eventually owned and operated Kriewall Construction for many years to the present. Roger was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Blue Earth, where he was confirmed on April 10, 1949. He was also a 29-year member of the Blue Earth Fire Department, serving as President for many years and was a member of the Riverside Cemetery Association board, having also served as president for many years. He was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, frequently having several gardens growing at a time and enjoyed making and giving away several kinds of wood crafts.
Roger W. “Coon” Kriewall is survived by his wife, Mary Kriewall of Blue Earth; his son, Todd (Ann) Kriewall of Albert Lea; his daughter, Sherry (Kurt) Abel of Blue Earth; his son, Rick Kriewall of Mankato; his daughter, Gina Teems and husband John Abbott of Grand Rapids; his brother, Duane (Darlene) Kriewall of Burnsville; his sister, Lorraine (Mike) Arends of Blue Earth; his sister, Marguerite (Bruce) Mondahl of Minnesota Lake; seven grandchildren: David (Nici) Abel, Danielle (Travis) Olson, Kyle Kriewall, Marisa Teems, Derek Abel, Karli Kriewall and Kohl Kriewall; and two great-grandchildren, Hallie Abel and Reese Olson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Fritz Kriewall; and son-in-law, Mike Teems.
