Katie Barrera and Dan Weckwerth announce their engagement.

Katie is the daughter of Mindy and Randy Hofner of Rose Creek and Craig Klingfus, of Mason City, Iowa. She is the granddaughter of Donna Goplen of Albert Lea.

Dan is the son of Sharon and Gene Weckwerth of Albert Lea. He is the grandson of Ella Bleckeberg of Albert Lea.

Katie is a 2002 graduate of Southland High School. She is attending South Central College and majoring in early childhood development.

Dan is a 1994 graduate of Albert Lea High School and graduated Riverland Community College with a degree in business management. He is employed at Cooperative Response Center.

A wedding is planned for Oct. 2, 2010, in Albert Lea.
