Here are highlights in history for Aug. 6, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:

1987 — Sports Editor John Kolb commented in his column, “Outdoor News,” that the area hunting outlook was bright.

1977 — The Albert Lea City Council was considering plans to create a community theater in the city arena that would have seating for 292 people. (Note: This proposal never became a reality.)

1947 — The Danish Brotherhood Society held their state convention in Albert Lea. About a thousand people attended this event. State President Fred Paulsen of Hayward presided.
