Here are highlights in history for Aug. 8, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1992 — Seaboard Corp., parent company of Albert Lea’s Farmstead Foods, said the proposed new plant in Guymon, Okla., would not affect operations at the local plant.
1982 — Dr. Walter E. Behring, 88, who practiced dentistry in Albert Lea from 1926 to 1975, died two days earlier in Emporia, Kan.
1952 — The Albert Lea YMCA purchased the former Coca-Cola building on North Newton Avenue and planned to convert it into use of their activities.
