Here are highlights in history for Aug. 16, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1989 — A photo in this issue showed the railroad depot at Armstrong. Besides the depot, this small community between Albert Lea and Alden also then had a bank, creamery, store and post office.
1979 — Five photos attempted to describe the process of assembling a freight train on the west side of Albert Lea between Clark and Front Streets. (Note: These tracks are no longer used for this purpose.)
1969 — Lea College enrollment was up to 900 students, 200 more than the previous year.
