Here are highlights in history for Aug. 22, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1988 — An article explained how the Anton Scholtz farm east of Penny Lake in Freeborn County qualified for the designation of a Century Farm by the Minnesota Historical Society.
1968 — Linder Quinlivan was conducting nightly sing-a-long sessions at the Skyline Supp’r Club.
1958 — The first segment of Minnesota’s interstate highway system was opened just north of Owatonna.
