Margaret Anderson Kelliher is a former student of mine. I can assure you as one of the three DFL candidates running for governor of Minnesota in the Aug. 10 primary, she had the leadership skills early on to serve us well. School started a week before Labor Day the year she was in my classroom. She approached my desk the day after Labor Day, pencil and paper in hand, to explain she had been showing her animals at the State Fair and that she wanted to know of any work she needed to do to make up for the previous week. I was impressed with this pattern of self-discipline coming from an eighth-grader and have been ever since as I have watched her many gifts intensify. It has been an extraordinary experience to watch her diplomacy in handling various situations as speaker of the House. With her background, we can count on her to share her strengths to benefit all of us as our new governor. I encourage you to cast your vote for Margaret for governor in the Aug. 10 primary and then once again in November for her as our next governor of Minnesota.
