The Albert Lea girls’ tennis team lost and indoor match to Winona 7-0 Friday in their Big Nine Conference opener.

Michelle Hartmann fell at No. 1 singles 2-6, 1-6 and Ashley Gilbertson got five games off of her opponent in the first set but fell 5-7, 0-6.

Kristen Enger played a competitive match at No. 4 singles but fell 4-6, 4-6.

“I thought our singles players did a very good job even though the scores didn’t show it, “Albert Lea head coach Sean Gillam said. “We played a very experienced team.”

The Tigers (2-5) are in action again Tuesday as they host Rochester Mayo (1-0).
