1989 — A column featured the Irv Sorenson “Hi-lites and Shadows” illustrated historical features that were published weekly from March 1949 to September 1965.

1979 — John Eyemann of Forest City, Iowa, won the 51st annual Shortstop Golf Tournament held at the Albert Lea Country Club.

1969 — The Albert Lea City Council voted to approve a proposal to allow city employees to live outside the city limits.
