Here are highlights in history for Sept. 6, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1991 — The Albert Lea Port Authority approved a lease for Game-Tec of Kansas City, Mo., to move into the Brandworth Building on the city’s south side on Oct. 1.
1981 — A survey found out there were 14 labor union locals in the Albert Lea area. The largest was Local 6, United Food and Commercial Workers, with 2,600 members.
1941 — A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held in Emmons for the opening of a new segment of U.S. Highway 69 between that community and Albert Lea.
