Here are highlights in history for Sept. 12, gleaned from the files of the Albert Lea Tribune:
1990 — Doug Andersen of Albert Lea defeated Germain Davison of rural Hokah in the Independent-Republican primary for Minnesota’s 1st Congressional District.
1980 — An article featured Gordon and Elizabeth Yost of rural Alden who had donated a joint total of 17 gallons of blood to the Red Cross Bloodmobile drives.
1960 — The Albert Lea City Council voted to hire three patrolmen to guard school crossing for children living in the Jordan and Garden Villa additions on the city’s west side.
